Environmentalism
Environmentalism is a concern for protecting the environment from destruction or pollution. Conservation of natural resources and protection of the environment are important issues in today's world. Here are some interesting facts about the environment:

  • Every day 50 to 100 species of plants and animals become extinct as their habitat and human influences destroy them.
  • One ton of carbon dioxide that is released in the air can be prevented by replacing 75-watt light bulbs with efficient light bulbs.
  • Uncontrolled fishing has greatly reduced species populations and in some cases, up to one-tenth of their original population.
  • The human population is expected to triple by the year 2100 with an increase of consumption of natural resources.
